The Spinal Cord Paralysis Association of Turkey will host the International Symposium on Fight Against Spinal Cord Paralysis, which will be held for the first time in Turkey as part of the 5 September World Spinal Cord Paralysis Day. At the symposium to be held in Istanbul, the President of the European Spinal Cord Paralysis Association (ESCIF) Stefan O. Jorlev, as well as the world-renowned Indian doctor HS Chhabra, who works on the treatment of spinal cord paralysis, will share the latest developments about the studies carried out around the world. The role of local governments in the living conditions of people with spinal cord paralysis will also be on the agenda in the symposium, which will also be attended by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey Fatma Şahin.
The International Symposium on Fight Against Spinal Cord Paralysis, hosted by the Turkish Spinal Cord Paralysis Association (TOFD), will take place on September 5 at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. In the symposium, where expert speakers will take place in Turkey, the world-famous Indian doctor HS Chhabra, who works on spinal cord treatment, will share the worldwide studies with Turkish scientists.
TOFD, which has been carrying out national and international studies on the solution of medical, occupational, economic and social problems of spinal cord paralysis patients and the prevention of spinal cord paralysis since 1998, will share many studies and new developments in the treatment of spinal cord paralysis with the public and authorities at the symposium to be held within the scope of 5 September World Spinal Cord Paralysis Day. It aims to provide solutions by expressing the rights advocacy of individuals with spinal cord paralysis, their participation in social life, and the problems they experience in the professional and educational fields.
Expert speakers in the field will answer the questions of people with disabilities
At the International Symposium on Struggle with Spinal Cord Paralysis, chaired by Semra Çetinkaya, President of Turkey Spinal Cord Paralysis, the President of the European Spinal Cord Paralysis Association (ESCIF) Stefan O. Jorlev will also share information about the social work done in Europe. All sessions at the symposium will be open to the public. In the symposium, in which individuals with spinal cord paralysis and their families will participate, many important issues from the developments in the treatment of spinal cord paralysis to the difficulties experienced in the sexual life of individuals with spinal cord paralysis will be discussed by experts.
Rights and opportunities in social life are as important as treatment
In the first session of the symposium, social opportunities and legal rights that are as important as treatment for individuals with spinal cord paralysis will be on the agenda. At the event, where Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and also the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey Fatma Şahin will make statements about the role of local governments and the opportunities offered, TOFD Board Member Aydın Çengel will discuss the problems and legal rights of people with spinal cord paralysis, along with the results of research conducted with individuals with spinal cord paralysis.

Along with the health problems faced by individuals with spinal cord paralysis, his studies and innovations in the treatment of spasticity, pressure sores, rehabilitation and spinal cord paralysis are carried out by Prof. Dr. Said Naderi, Prof. Dr. Belgin Erhan, Prof. Dr. Evrim Coskun, Prof. Dr. World-renowned Indian Doctor HS Chabbra will share with Ayhan Attar.
