54% of healthcare workers in our country are exposed to cutting-piercing tool injuries at least once during their professional life. While the Patient and Healthcare Workers Safety Platform continues to minimize these rates through awareness studies, national reports and publications, and legislative recommendations, it also prepared an online training for healthcare professionals.
As a result of the survey conducted by the Patient and Health Worker Safety Platform, the Platform, which continues its activities in our country where one of both healthcare workers is exposed to cutting-piercing tool injuries at least once during their professional life, to improve the safety culture and to increase the safety standards of the healthcare professionals in their working lives, prepared an e-training on cutting-piercing tool injuries by adding a new one to its work.
Patient and Health Worker Safety Platform Leader Dr. Serhat Ünal said “As a platform, we have prepared this e-training module for all valuable healthcare professionals who use cutting-piercing tools to change awareness, attitude and behavior change, and to significantly reduce exposure to injuries. With this module, we aim to raise the working standards of healthcare professionals and standardize the necessary measures in this context with legislation studies”.
In the training, prepared by the 5 expert healthcare professionals within the Platform, the Definition and Epidemiology, Protection and Prevention, Cost of Cutting and Drilling Injuries and Good Practices are included. Within the scope of the training, while 30 questions which comprehensive explanations were advanced, were presented to the participants, the participants were measured on information such as applications to prevent cutting-piercing injuries, devices equipped with safety, management of risk values, things to do after injury, costs of injuries to the health system, good practices and standards. Healthcare professionals can also access the literature information on the topics mentioned in the comprehensive explanations about the correct answer presented after each question. A certificate of participation is given by the Platform to those who complete the training, where all healthcare professionals can participate free of charge.
