5 sun rules to follow! Undoubtedly, we all missed the sunny days that we patiently waited for and finally got together. But one should not surrender to the sun with this longing. Especially at noon, when the sun is at the top, it should be among our most important rules to be protected and to prefer to be at home in the shade. We asked other important rules Pediatrician Asst. Prof. MD. Emre Çenesiz, Liv Hospital.
-Stay in the shade
It is midday when UV rays are most harmful. Make sure your child is indoors, especially at noon. In cases where this is not possible, prefer to stand under a tree, umbrella or an awning.
-Cover
Long-sleeved t-shirts and pants can also provide protection from UV rays. Wet clothes protect against dry ones, and light colors protect more than dark colors.
– Wear a hat
A hat that shade the head, face, ears and neck will provide good protection for your child.
-Wear glasses
Choose sunglasses that block 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays. Otherwise, UV rays can cause cataracts in later ages.
-Use sunscreen
Use sunscreen with at least 50 SPF that protects against UVA and UVB rays whenever your child goes outside. Also, don’t forget your nose, ears, lips and back of your feet while applying the cream. If your baby is under 6 months old, use sunscreens recommended by your doctor. Remember that clouds do not block UV rays. For this reason, it is extremely important to be protected from the sun even on cloudy and cool days.
